are located just off the B3055 Arnewood Bridge Road The boundaries of the New Forest are about ¾ mile away and once on the forest there are many miles of tracks providing a whole variety of scenery and ponies, donkeys, cattle, pigs and deer roaming freely. Car parks are plentiful and free and country Inns and pubs provide welcome sustenance for the ‘weary traveller.’ The historic Sway Tower is close by and the sailing town of Lymington is about 2 miles to the east, with it’s popular Saturday market, a good variety of shops, sports centre, library and famous marina – always plenty to see even if you don’t sail! New Milton to the west provides excellent shopping and recreational facilities, as well as a frequent countrywide rail service to include Southampton, Bournemouth, Winchester – lots of shops, museums and beautiful gardens there if the weather is wet. From Lymington to Swanage there are good clean family beaches and interesting coastal walks. Southampton and Bournemouth are about 40 minutes away by car or train and offer cinema, theatre and musical treats and a variety of restaurants to complete your evening. Other local attractions include trips to the Isle of Wight, the Montague
House and Motor museum (Beaulieu), Bucklers Hard boat building village
and museum (near Beaulieu), New Forest experience (Ashhurst), New Forest
Owl Sanctuary (Ringwood), Marwell Zoo (Winchester), Paultons Theme Park,
and in the Spring, the world famous Exbury gardens. Water sports, horse
riding, fishing, cycling (both cycle hire and routes), and golf are freely
available locally. |
